Practical Introduction to Linux

This YCRC Bootcamp is a hands-on two-hour introductory workshop on Linux and BASH that is specifically aimed at building a solid foundation for using Linux as a practical tool for your work. It will be taught by Ben Evans PhD, Research Support Analyst in the YCRC, The workshop will cover Linux basics including:

  • Navigating the command line
  • File input and output
  • Redirection and pipelines

Each student will work on a virtual Linux machine in the cloud for hands-on lessons (a personal laptop computer is required in class to connect). No prior Linux or research computing experience is necessary.  This workshop will be held at the YCRC Auditorium.
