Practical Introduction to Linux
Previously recorded session (August 2017)
This YCRC Bootcamp is a hands-on two-hour introductory workshop on Linux and BASH that is specifically aimed at building a solid foundation for using Linux as a practical tool for your work. The workshop will cover Linux basics including:
- Navigating the command line
- File input and output
- Redirection and pipelines
Each student will work on a virtual Linux machine in the cloud for hands-on lessons (a personal laptop computer is required in class to connect). No prior Linux or research computing experience is necessary. It will be taught by Ben Evans, Ph.D., YCRC Research Support Analyst.
