Introduction to HPC 
 Hands-On Workshop

Thursday, February 13th, 1-4pm and
Thursday, February 20th, 9am -12 pm 

This workshop is designed to introduce new users to the HPC resources available at Yale and to provide a comprehensive overview of the basic concepts needed to perform computing on the clusters: accessing the clusters, navigating a linux interface via bash commands, running interactive and batch jobs, managing files, troubleshooting workflows, and more.

Each workshop consists of a presentation and practical exercises (~2 hours), followed by office hours with the YCRC Research Support Team who will be available for questions, demonstrations, and troubleshooting.

Number of seats is limited. Registration is required. These are in-person only events, held at YCRC. Remote access will not be available.

Shared Memory Programming Using OpenMP

presented by Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center

Wednesday, February 19, 2025 11am - 5pm 

 

Prerequisites: Current ACCESS ID

This workshop is intended to give C and Fortran programmers a hands-on introduction to OpenMP programming. Attendees will leave with a working knowledge of how to write scalable codes using OpenMP.

Intermediate HPC
Hands-on Workshop

Thursday, February 27th, 1-3pm 

Thursday, March 27th, 2-4pm 

This workshop is designed to introduce experienced cluster users to more advanced concepts in high-performance computing: analyzing and improving job performance, making use of job arrays, efficient management of large dataset, and more. The workshop will consist of a presentation and practical, hands-on exercises. 

Prerequisites: Introductory knowledge of Yale HPC clusters (accessing the clusters, navigating a Linux interface via bash commands, running interactive and batch jobs, etc.)

We recommend accessing ​​​​​​​the Introduction to HPC video and accompanying slides and completing the intro exercises to prepare for this workshop. 

Number of seats is limited. Registration is required. These are in-person only events, held at YCRC. Remote access will not be available.
