Power Disruption at West Campus and Impact on Clusters
Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 1:00pmA brief power disruption at Yale’s West campus at approximately 12:30 pm, today July 26, 2016 led to many nodes on Omega going offline. Its likely that jobs running on Omega at this time were impacted. We are encouraging users to check their jobs.
There seems to be a smaller impact to other clusters so we are encouraging users of all clusters to check their jobs as well.

Grace: Brief Storage Issue
Thursday, July 7, 2016 - 11:10amA brief issue prevented storage access on Grace during the morning of Thursday, July 7th. The system is fully operational as of 10:50 am, but users are advised to check the status of any jobs running during this time.

Grace cluster unplanned outage
Sunday, March 27, 2016 - 12:00pmOn Saturday, March 26th around 5:00 pm, Grace logins became unavailable due to a storage issue. The Grace cluster was brought back into service at approximately 11:00 am, Sunday March 27th. It is likely that any scheduled job running during this time may have been impacted and will need to be restarted.

Grace Cluster is back in service

Louise Available
Tuesday, March 8, 2016 - 1:00pmHome directories on Louise became unavailable early the morning of March 8th., limiting access to the cluster. The issue appeared to be the storage array on which /home resides. The HPC admin team has restarted the storage array and Louise is accessible. It is likely that any scheduled job running during the outage may have been impacted and will need to be restarted.

Minor Network Issues on Omega
Thursday, February 11, 2016 - 10:00pmMinor Infiniband networking issues were observed on the Omega cluster between 12 pm and 8 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2016. All issues have been resolved however if you had jobs running the time the issues were observed, we recommend that you check your jobs carefully. Please let us know of anything you believe is in error by emailing hpc@yale.edu.

Planned Maintenance - VPN - Virtual Private Network - Feb. 14 - 15, 2016

- Yale's Virtual Private Network (VPN) will be undergoing system maintenance from Sunday, February 14 at 6:00 a.m. until Monday, February 15 at 8:00 a.m.
- Users connected to some VPN servers will be disconnected and can reconnect at access.yale.edu. If your connection is dropped, simply reconnect to access.yale.edu.
Details
On Sunday at 6:00 a.m., users connected to some VPN servers will be disconnected and can reconnect to the VPN service at access.yale.edu. During the remainder of the maintenance, users whose VPN clients are correctly configured to connect to access.yale.edu (and not to a specific VPN server) will not be impacted.

IMPORTANT information about BulldogN storage partition /panfs/sequencers
Tuesday, February 9, 2016 - 2:00pmOne of the Panasas storage partitions of the BulldogN cluster, /panfs/sequencers, has failed. At this time efforts by the system engineers to recover it have not been successful and the current belief is that it cannot be recovered.
As a reminder the sequencing data on /panfs/sequencers is also available at /gpfs/scratch/ycga/data/panfs/sequencers.

UPDATE: Power Outage in West Campus
Saturday, February 6, 2016 - 12:00pmOn February 5th at 11:15 AM, a power outage occurred that affected the Omega and Grace Clusters. Any job running at that time was likely impacted and we recommend that these jobs be checked carefully. Currently, both the Grace and Omega clusters are back online and jobs are running, however we suggest you monitor your jobs and report anything you believe is in error. Any questions or concerns should be sent to hpc@yale.edu.
The HPC team will continue to monitor the situation. Additional information, as it becomes available, will be posted here.
