There are a few options for centrally provided research data storage at Yale. Note that Storage @ Yale is the only storage solution listed here that is compliant with protected data (e.g. ePHI, HIPAA).
Storage @ Yale
Capacity: As requested. Cost: See below.
Can be mounted on the cluster.
Storage @ Yale (S@Y) is a central storage service provided by ITS. Data on S@Y is protected in multiple ways - local snapshots in the share, replication of data to secondary data center, and fully redundant hardware. S@Y shares are accessible by personal and lab machines across campus. There are three tier of storage to meet different usage needs. All prices are charged monthly for storage used at that time.
- Standard (daily use): $10.78/TB/month
- Archive (long term storage): $3.60/TB/month
- Enhanced (higher performance): $33.87/TB/month
For most up to date pricing information, see the ITS Data Rates.
To request a share, press the “Request this Service” button in the right sidebar on the Storage@Yale website. If you would like to request a share that is mounted on the HPC clusters, fill out the Storage@Yale Request Form on the YCRC website . Note that S@Y shares can either be accessible on campus computers or the clusters, but not both.
S@Y is the only centrally provided storage solution listed here that is compliant with protected data (e.g. ePHI, HIPAA). However, the HIPAA compliant S@Y is only available on Windows shares and are not available on the clusters.

To share your data with others, see the Google Drive documentation.
Google Team Drive
Google Team Drives are Google Drive shared spaces where all files in a Team Drive belong to the team instead to any individual. Once you create a Team Drive, you can invite the members of your research groups and all files will stay accessible in the Team Drive even as lab members come and go. Google Team Drive is an opt-in feature at the moment, so email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to have it activated on your account.
