Amazon Web Services Research Computing Immersion Day

The YCRC has partnered with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) team to provide training on essential Amazon Web Services for Research Computing.  Will St. Clair and Nick Ragusa, senior solutions architects from AWS, will lead a one-day training class.  Training wil be held in the YCRC auditorium and will focus on instruction during the morning session and hands on learning in the afternoon.

MPI Training

XSEDE along with the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications are pleased to announce a two-day MPI workshop, to be held September 7-8, 2016.

 

This workshop is intended to give C and Fortran programmers a hands-on introduction to MPI programming. Both days are compact, to accommodate multiple time zones, but packed with useful information and lab exercises. Attendees will leave with a working knowledge of how to write scalable codes using MPI – the standard programming tool of scalable parallel computing.

XSEDE HPC Workshop: BIG DATA

XSEDE along with the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center are pleased to announce a one day Big Data workshop, to be held August 9, 2016.

This workshop will focus on topics such as Hadoop and Spark.

Scripting With Python

 the YCRC will give a 2 hour introductory course on Python, a modern, interpreted scripting language that is easy to learn, and allows you to quickly automate tasks.      
The course will cover:

  • Basic Python syntax and data types
  • Basic tasks like reading and writing files
  • Using Python modules for additional functionality
  • Best practices and Gotchas
  • Walk-through examples of useful Python scripting for HPC

This is not a hands on course.
